What we're looking for
We're looking for students with a serious interest in developing their skills in writing speculative fiction, or in developing experience with the publishing or gaming industries. You need not have extensive formal experience in your field of interest, but you should be able to demonstrate talent and dedication. We're also looking for evidence of self-discipline and a clear, realistic plan of action for the summer. What summer programs will we sponsor?
The HRSFANS Summer Scifi Writing Grant is available to students who want to participate in writing workshops in order to improve their speculative fiction writing over the summer.
The HRSFANS Summer SciFi Industry Grant is available to students who want to participate in unpaid internships pertaining to speculative fiction publishing, and the design and marketing of games. Smaller grants are also available for students who want to participate in paid internships which do not fully cover the costs of the summer for the student, such as transportation. Here you may find a list of appropriate workshops and internships. We encourage you to apply to us for funding for other programs as well, provided that you can make a good case that they fit our criteria.
If you're applying to more than one eligible summer program
Good for you! Feel free to make as many applications to us as you have made applications to eligible summer programs.
